Can we do submoule please? The size of this PR is crazy |

Vanilla assimp unfortunately has to be modified by the sync fixup script, so we can't leave it vanilla submodule pointing upstream. |

Fork upstream assimp, apply our patches on top, point submodule at that? Might be also easier to maintain this way |
I second this notation, it is hard for anyone to review the PR this massive. |
